The current Internal Regulation of the Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering of UFU was approved through Resolution CONPEP 04/2007, modified by resolution 04/2010 (annexes)

The master's course can be completed in a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 24 months *.

The PhD course can be completed in a minimum of 24 months and a maximum of 48 months *.

* In exceptional cases the Collegiate Course may grant extension of term.

Requirements to receive the title of Master of Science:

To receive the title of Master of Science, the candidate must have his master's dissertation approved by an Examining Bank in public defense, as determined by the aforementioned resolutions. The main requirements to request the Examining Board training are:

  • Obtain 18 credits in subjects;
  • Have coefficient of utilization 3,0;
  • Have passed a foreign language examination.
  • Having delivered copies of his dissertation to be distributed to members of the Examining Board, with 30 days in advance.
  • Have verified the national or international patent, or have published a book or book chapter with ISBN and editorial staff in the area of Engineering IV (Exclude articles presented at technical-scientific events and published in book format), or has the publication or final acceptance of a complete article, in national or international congresses, or have the publication or final acceptance of an article in periodicals, in the area of Engineering IV, qualified for the area on the date of publication, as determined by the Collegiate. - Only the qualified publications and the educational patents will be considered to the subject of research of the student.

Requirements to receive a Doctor of Science degree:

To receive the title of Doctor of Science candidate must have his doctoral thesis approved by the Examining Board, public defense, as determined by the above mentioned resolutions. The main requirements for requesting the training of the Examining Bank are:

  • Obtain 27 credits in subjects; (For the doctoral student with a Master's degree, at least 9 credits will be required to be taken in disciplines);
  • Have coefficient of utilization 3,0;
  • Be approved in public qualifying examination for PhD;
  • Have passed an examination of two foreign languages;
  • Have copies of your thesis distributed to the Examining Board members 30 days in advance at the program secretariat.
  • Have verified the national or international patent, or have published a book or book chapter with ISBN and editorial staff in the area of Engineering IV (Exclude articles presented at technical-scientific events and published in book format), or has the publication or final acceptance of a complete article, in national or international congresses, or have the publication or final acceptance of an article in periodicals, in the area of Engineering IV, qualified for the area on the date of publication, as determined by the Collegiate. - Only the qualified publications and the educational patents will be considered to the subject of research of the student.
